The Cathedral of Saint Christopher Canberra

Friends, Welcome to Saint Christopher’s, the Catholic Cathedral of the Nation’s Capital.

On the 5th of February 2023, we celebrated 50 Years since St Christopher’s was consecrated the Cathedral Church of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn. This same year also marks 75 Year of the Archdiocese.

As the Mother Church of the people of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, this radiant Cathedral is the inspiration and spiritual home of the Catholic community in Canberra and beyond. Spanning from the glittery shores of the South Coast, to the picturesque Snowy Mountains - from the rolling hills and the fertile plains of the Central West, to Lake Cargelligo to Goulburn, Jindabyne to the shores of Narooma. It is indeed a Cathedral for all Australians.

Saint Christopher’s was named and placed under the patronage of the Patron Saint of Travellers. From Canberra’s earliest beginnings, it was seen to become forevermore a place which would welcome many travellers.
